He will go to battle for you...

He will go to battle for you...

I'm going to get right to the point today.

There is a battle going on and it's for the minds and hearts of our children.

I feel so strongly about this and I know the Lord put in on my heart last night so that He can speak to someone that may be reading this...

Yesterday I had to re-read my OWN blog post on "Peace and Calming"  because I wasn't feeling much peace.  In fact I was feeling much turmoil.  So don't think for a minute that I've got it all together just because I blog about this stuff.  I truly believe I am just a broken vessel that is willing to be used and the Lord sometimes speaks through me when He wants to.  Sometimes I don't even know what I'm going to say but I always ask the Lord to show me what to say.  (So no wonder half the time I don't even "get" what I am writing!)  lol

But last night I was praying about something specific and the Lord just brought a few things to mind that I wanted to share.

First, I know this is scary stuff.  If we read the verses below we know there is a battle going on.

Ephesians 6:10-12 tells us, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (NIV)

We don't want to think about the fact that there is evil in this world and it wants to do our families harm.  We may try to forget this part and not even think about it very often.  Oh sure, we all have struggles in life... in school, at work, mostly with people.  But those are not the REAL struggles.  Those may be the struggles we SEE, but the battle is actually going on in the heavenly realm.

You see when you love the Lord, desire to follow Him, you are a light in this dark world Satan doesn't like that.  He doesn't care about the lukewarm church or the lukewarm Christian.  That doesn't scare him at all.  But when you desire to make a difference in this world, are willing to be used and share God's love to a dark world...

Ok, THAT he does. not. want.

So to anyone out there reading this and struggling right now.  Please keep going, and KNOW these TRUTHS:

1. You need to put on the FULL ARMOR OF GOD!

Yes we've heard it before. I remember learning this in children's ministry as a kid... But do you REALLY know how powerful of an answer to the enemy this is?  This isn't a joke or some elementary felt board sunday school lesson.  This is the real deal. Proverbs 31 Ministries had a GREAT article about this yesterday that I would encourage you to read.  You can find the whole article here, but here's a snippet of it by Lysa TerKeurst that I think is the most important part to read about the armor:

His belt of truth. I must park my runaway mind in the assurance of God’s love for me and my child.

His breastplate of righteousness. I must stop reacting in the flesh and choose to battle this with my praises and prayers.

His gospel of peace. I must walk in the assurance and peace that even when I can’t see things changing, God is working on my child’s behalf.

His shield of faith. I must have faith in God’s timing and in His ways.

His helmet of Salvation. I must trust God’s ultimate desire for my children is for them to have a close relationship with Him. Though a situation might seem like an unlikely part of this process, God will bring good out of it.

His sword, which is the Bible. I must read God’s love letter to me every day. And hold those truths as the lifeline between God’s security and my shaky heart.

And His gift of prayer. I must see prayer not as a last resort but as the very thing God’s most courageous followers turn to first.

(These wouldn't be a bad idea to memorize or put into our Notes on our phones to remember...)

Ephesians 6:10-20 above assures us with these in place, we’ll be able to stand. They will help us tap into the power of God.

2. The Lord will go to battle for YOU!

Countless times in the bible we can find verses that show God's amazing power.  That power is fighting for you!  His strength is holding you up. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one."  In Deuteronomy 3:22 is says “Do not fear them, for the Lord your God is the one fighting for you.”

3. His angels are watching out for YOU!

Read the verses in Psalms 91 below:

My Refuge and My Fortress

91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say[a] to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
    and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his pinions,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
    nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
    and see the recompense of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
    the Most High, who is my refuge[b]
10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
    no plague come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
    lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder;
    the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
    I will protect him, because he knows my name.
15 When he calls to me, I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble;
    I will rescue him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

Please know that if you are a child of God, you are SAFE.  Not that you won't have struggles and the enemy will leave you alone.  But you have the God of Creation fighting for you!  Don't give up.  Trust in His protection and His plan for your life.

He wants to use you in MIGHTY ways.

Now I know that may be scary.  I know that may mean you need to change some things in your life.  It's not too late to listen to the Lord, draw closer to Him, read His word daily and trust that he has a better plan for your life.

"Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7

I'd rather my family be living theirs lives FULLY for the Lord and know the Lord is with us, fighting our battles, then to live a lukewarm life that the enemy doesn't take a second look at...  I know living your life for Christ isn't easy.  But God will go before you and fight for you!

What battle are you fighting?  Are you fighting it alone?  Are you trying to run from the Lord or too the Lord?

Pray.  Praise the Lord.  Give Him control. And be thankful for your blessings.

He's GOT THIS. <3

P.S.  I took the photo of those sharks in the top photo when we "swam with the sharks" in Bora Bora last year!  (I say WE very loosely... I got in the water and then chickened out... :P )
