Coming back from Maui and looking at all my photos, this one really struck a cord with me and I posted this message on IG a couple days ago that I thought I would share here as well.
“When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the storm.” Saw this quote and thought of this tree we saw in Maui the other day. The wind was so strong we could hardly stand to take photos. But here’s this tree, probably there for many many years standing strong against all kinds of weather. That is such a powerful picture to me of how we are to be rooted in our faith. I want to be strong and sturdy like that tree in the face of the storms of life... Because they come, there’s no doubt about that, right? Everyone has struggles... and I don’t know about you but I’d be lost without my faith in God! But even still it’s not easy to let go of stress, doubt, anxiety... fill in the blank. Life has storms of all kinds. I think of Colossians 2:6-7 where it says “Therefore, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” That’s what I’m trying to learn and it’s taken almost 50 years to get here. Live in Christ. Daily... or hourly or maybe minute by minute! Do what it takes to stay rooted in Him and His Word. Memorize some key verses that can come to mind when the storms come, read the Bible daily, get a good devotional and take notes, ( @youversion Is awesome for that) take the time to pray and seek that strength that only comes from Christ... and PRAISE Him in the storms. I know, that’s not easy to do. But thanksgiving and praise are key. So when you don’t understand, when you’re crying out in anger or pain or whatever your emotions are... stop and praise Him. There’s a reason for the storm and you may never understand it, but there is. And when you turn it around to PRAISE and Thanksgiving you will be strengthened and rooted as deep as that tree on that beach withstanding every storm that comes its way. That came spilling out of me this morning... so I hope that blesses someone today. #stormsoflife #rootedinhim
I'm going to try and get some time this weekend to bible journal this verse and I'll share it on here later if I do.
Have a GREAT weekend,
