Do not Fear...

Easier said then done, right?

Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous.  Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." ... v8 "it is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."

Oh how I love these verses! ❤️

I don't know about you but I'd love to be reminded of these words on a daily basis. Maybe I need to write these words on a sign or post it note... This past Sunday in church we were in Matthew 25 in the parable of the talents.  It's talking about what we are doing with our talents (which was money in that day), but we can also tie it to our gifts and abilities.

What are we doing to use those "talents" He has given us?  Are we scared to go forward and even try? Are we playing it safe? I think of what He has blessed me with and I do have to say fear plays a part. I absolutely LOVE what I feel is a gift from Him... my faith based retreats! I'm passionate about sharing His love with others and connecting people to His Creation and His Creativity! But I have a fear of flying and a fear of speaking in front of big crowds!!  So I do need to be reminded of these verses daily.  I have been praying BIG prayers over these retreats lately and I know the Lord is stepping myself and my daughter out in faith. What that looks like we don't know yet... but I do know that our Lord God is going before us and He wants us to be strong and courageous.

I hope and pray these words help you also in your journey to step out in faith and use the talents He has given you! Have a blessed day. ❤️

Hugs,

Laura

God my ROCK...

God my ROCK...

Thank you for all your prayers!  I am recovering today and doing pretty good.  Now just waiting a week for the results will be a bit challenging...  But it's why I wanted to do this bible journaling page last night.

I keep coming back to this concept of God as my rock.  I've done several pages (and will probably do more) on this idea.  But I don't know if I understand this idea and why this saying is in the bible over 24 times?  So I wanted to dig deeper...

If we think of a rock we think SOLID, STRONG, UNCHANGEABLE..  those certainly describe our Lord GOD.

I think of the rocks in Yosemite.  A couple summers ago we had two boys from Italy stay with us for a month.  We took them on a California road trip and one of their favorite places with Yosemite... but they didn't know how to pronounce it.(Pronounced "Yo-smite" to two Italian boys... It was quite funny but they finally got it)  They are from a part of Italy that has rocks EVERYWHERE.  Lake Como is basically a lake with mountains all around it. They grew up climbing and hiking and so they were climbing and jumping from rock to rock... They even decided to climb Bridal Falls! The beauty of this place and the nature and ROCKS was astounding and they were amazed by it!

You can't see them, but they are up there pretty close to the top!  I chose to stay down at the level below...

But I remember having conversations while we were driving in the park about God.  What a perfect place to see His beauty and CREATION and share our faith with them.

Back in the Old Testament a rock was a source of LIFE when God caused water to flow out of a rock for Moses in Deuteronomy 8. The rocks were also a SHIELD in the wilderness to hide and protect Moses and also David.  Rocks were also used to build walls and fortresses as a DEFENSE and were a sign of STRENGTH against danger.

David used this analogy of "God my Rock" several times in the Psalms:

Psalm 61: 1-3 "Hear my cry of God, listen to my prayer, from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.  Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower again the enemy."

God is our REFUGE.  He is our STRENGTH.  We can hide in Him and He will take care of us.  He is also our source of strength when we are worried, tired, sick... you fill in the blank.   He wants to be our SPIRITUAL and PHYSICAL ROCK in times of distress.

Psalm 62:1-2 "Fod God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken."

I wish I would have brought this into our conversation on those mountain rocks with these two boys...

My prayer is that we ALL find God to be our refuge and strength in our lives.

Just like those rocks will always be there, you can ALWAYS rely on God to be there for you.

One of my favorite songs right now is "God my Rock" by Brenton Brown.  Here's the video:

I hope this blesses your day!

Hugs to all,

Laura
