Good morning Monday!
I just love doors. I take pictures of doors all the time and I have for many years. The doors in Europe are just so beautiful that I can't get enough of them. Why don't we make our doors pretty like the one above? In our new house in Colorado we really want to have some old doors and are searching for those now.
In church yesterday our pastor was talking about the passage in John 10 where Jesus says "He is the Door" and here's what I wrote on IG yesterday:
“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9
Learning about the “I AM” statements by Jesus in the book of John. Thank you Jesus for being a Door and not a long hallway! (as in a long list or religious “to do’s” to enter in) He’s simply wanting to let you in, and then giving you freedom to come and go. Oh how we “knock” on so many OTHER doors (trying to find peace, love, happiness, acceptance, etc...) and He’s just over here wanting to escort you in through His door. Because He loves every one of us, and wants to show you that through HIS door it is the only place you will truly find:
1. Salvation for our souls
2. Security = freedom & refuge
3. True Satisfaction (that doesn’t depend on our circumstances) and that leads us to green pastures.
Then John 10:10 says “ the thief comes to steel and kill, but I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Jesus Christ is the door to that abundant life. He gave His life for us to have eternal life... but also an abundant life HERE AND NOW. That’s not a life abundant of THINGS, but a life rich with HIM. (FYI it’s not a door to a church building, but to a relationship) Leading us to those green pastures, still waters and satisfaction for our SOULS. Yes and Amen... I will take some of that!
What about you?
Have you walked in through His door?
What does that green pasture or still water (ie... abundant life) look like for you? For me it’s a daily journey with Him by my side. Peace and stillness that’s not dependent on how hard my day/life may be. Showing me all that He wants to do and the adventure He has for us. And another FYI... His plans for you are SO. MUCH. BIGGER than you could ever dream up on your own. (This I know so deeply) Let Him lead you through that door and see how much more He has for you... so much MORE than any other door you’ve tried to go through, knock down, build up or manufacture.
Remember the game show “Let’s make a Deal?” Well, He’s got the BEST deal for you through His door. So choose Door #1 ~ straight to your Heavenly Father.
Last week I shared about the I AM statement "I am the Light of the World" and how that reminded me of Billy Graham's life. This journal page I did above kind of came out of that blog post and I wanted to share that with you. Also, our pastors wife wrote a great little devotional last week about the topic and I thought I'd share it with you here:
"I AM The Light of the World"~written by staff member Kelly Bell “You are the light of the world..." Matthew 5:14
When I go out every morning for a run, it’s still completely dark. I know, not the smartest thing to do, but it’s a 40 year routine! Can’t teach old dogs new tricks, right? After tripping over things multiple times, I finally began wearing a headlamp. What a difference it makes when you can see where you’re going! I don’t trip over rocks, fall off curbs, or run into hydrants! In John 8:12 Jesus calls Himself the Light of the world. When we follow Him, our path is illuminated! He shows us where to place our next step, what obstacles to avoid, and what dangers are ahead. No longer do we have to wander around in darkness and “hope” we can find our way. And because Jesus tells us that now WE are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), we can illuminate the way for others. His light shines through us to show others the way to life. He’s our headlamp in this dark world!
Are you "wearing" your light? Have you turned on your light?
Have a great week ahead everyone.
