Today we prayed away the rain... for a while.  :)

The rain has been so unseasonably strong this past week and Thursday is always our "Lake Day"... I really wanted to have a sunny day so they could all enjoy the lake tour and visit Villa Balbianello and have lunch at our favorite local restaurant by the shorefront.

So waking up this morning we were a little nervous to look out the window...

But to our amazement there were BLUE SKIES and beautiful white puffy clouds!!  Sun was out and greeting us and we had the perfect window of time for our whole excursion to be absolutely amazing!!

So very, very thankful for a wonderful day!

Here are Day 5 & 6 in the Pray. Wait. Trust devotional I have been sharing all this week:

Pray… Day 5 ~ God hears our prayers.

God is everywhere.  This is known as omnipresence, meaning that He is present everywhere throughout His creation. As a result of the reality of God's omnipresence, we are assured that no matter where we are, God will hear our prayers… even from the belly of a fish.

Jonah 2:1-2 "Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, saying, “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice.”  While I’m sure that wasn’t the most comfortable place to pray, we know that God heard the prayers of Jonah.

When we pray to God we will be heard. But how can God hear unless we pray? How can our prayers be received unless they are sent? How beautiful are the prayers of those who seek the Lord, despite their circumstances.  God is eager to hear us, comfort us, strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with His "righteous right hand”  (Isaiah 41:10)

No prayer is too small for God to hear. Neither is any prayer too large for God to handle.

Luke 1:37 “For nothing is impossible with God”

Psalm 139:7 “Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?”

Psalm 34:15 “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.”

1 John 5: 14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.”

An important step in receiving the blessings of prayer is to humbly and sincerely offer our prayers to God. Fortunately, we can do this anywhere and anytime, because prayer is always available to us.  Prayer is our way of connecting with God in all of life’s circumstances. God is always listening, we can talk to Him any time throughout the day.  What an amazing realization when we understand that prayer is not an event, but a way of life…

Ask Him to help you right now…

God is always ready to listen, no matter what our circumstances, but we must speak to Him in Prayer.

Day 6 ~  Wait…

Yes, this IS the hard part because who wants to wait? But waiting is not a waste of time, it can be a step in God’s plan!  It’s not just a “pause” but an actual part of His plan.  We are called to wait, and it is actually a valuable time in our lives where we grow and learn to trust His timing!  He uses these “Pauses” in our lives for our blessing… if we let Him. God is working for those who wait for him.  The Creator is not lacking in anything and he is working, he cannot fail!

There are rewards for waiting on His timing:

1. We discover His will:

Lam 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.”

Rom 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

2. We receive supernatural strength and power and endurance:

Isaiah 40:29-31 “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

3. We win battles:

Proverbs 20:22  Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.”

4. We see the fulfillment of our faith:

2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory.”

5. We see God working on our behalf:

Isaiah 64:4 “For since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.”

When we wait on God and obey, He is actively working on our behalf.  He ensures our victory and He gets all the glory…That should get a big Yes & Amen!

Waiting means:

~ Looking to the Lord

~ Searching Him for His will

~ Praying before acting

~ Seeking God’s counsel first (in prayer)

~ Being open & submissive to Him

What do you see God working on in you while you are waiting?

We learn some of life’s greatest lessons while we wait.
