John 16:24 “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and you joy will be complete.”

I understand that this verse is a little bit controversial.

No, God is not a genie in a bottle, ready to give you what you want. Asking our Father for spiritual blessings, the desires of our heart, or for Him to work in our lives and show us what that looks like... should be from a humble confidence that understands where our blessings come from. That we are completely dependent upon Christ and Christ alone.

It also makes it clear that we are to ask in Jesus’ name.

So first off, we are called to ask. Ask, with a right heart. Next... well if it says “you will receive” then that means we understand that we are dependent on God to receive it. That we acknowledge that dependence and rely on Him.

And finally...

God delights in our joy.

How awesome is that! He wants us to have our souls filled up with JOY.  Soak that in.

AND DREAM.  Like Mark Batterson says... If your dreams don't scare you they aren't BIG enough!

Bring your humble heart and your honest prayers to Him today. The relationship you can have with the Father is like none other. Seek that out and He will bless you. And ask it all in Jesus’ name.

Ok... can I get an Amen??!

I am dreaming up plans right now for NEXT October in Italy!
