It's so not enjoyable.
I think of so many times in my life that I've waited for something: waited for a job, waited for a test result, waited for an answer, waited for the future... I'm sure you aren't a big fan of waiting either, but it's a big part of life isn't it?
But this concept of waiting for something... something we want to happen RIGHT NOW. How do we handle it?
I know that we live in the days of social media, fast food, TV on demand, Insta "everything"... It's become an INSTANT GRATIFICATION WORLD and it's hard to wait. But doesn't that really just bring out the worst in us, our sinful nature wants everything RIGHT NOW...
What if we started thinking/realizing that when we WAIT and we eventually get an answer, it was actually RIGHT. ON. TIME.
Because it was.
Yes, waiting on the Lord to reveal something or to answer a prayer isn't easy. But I think the Lord shows us something THROUGH our waiting. Maybe more than something... lots of things! First, I know it shows us that His timing was best all along. He's not just making us wait to see how much we can take... He knows what's BEST for us and WANTS what's best for us and He's going to show us that through our waiting.
When we wait on the Lord and His perfect timing, we are waiting with "Hope and Expectation" like Habakkuk 2:3 says. "For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end - it will not lie. If it seems slow, WAIT FOR IT, it will surely come; it will not delay.
We are waiting with anticipation, TRUSTING in His timing. Allowing the Lord to decide, to have CONTROL.
Which means we are letting go of our own agenda.
And that's not so easy, I know.
But giving it to the Lord, opening our hands and saying "It's yours Lord" allows us to see how amazing HIS plan is! We finally realize His ways are better then our ways. And when we see His answer, it's clear that is WAS so much better then we could have imagined!
But then, what do we do IN the waiting? We certainly aren't just twiddling our thumbs, kicking back and chilling' out...
"Be Still" like Psalm 37:7 says "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him..."
We can definitely rest in His peace like in John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."
And we can rest in His wonderful grace like John 1:16 says: "For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace."
I read somewhere that waiting on the Lord is like a waiter or waitress at a restaurant. We aren't sitting around at home just waiting for an answer, it's like a waiter or waitress who waits on people. They are still working, waiting on people, anticipating their needs, still serving others while waiting in the wings.
So let's work at turning our "waiting" into HIS PERFECT TIMING. Realizing He will answer us...
RIGHT ON TIME.
What has the Lord shown you was "right on time" in your life? I'd love to hear how He has shown you His great grace and love by coming through in His perfect timing.
Have a GREAT day!
Hugs to all,
