Where did the time go... my middle girl is a Junior in HS and going to PROM?

Looks like it... (oh she's going to hate me for this photo... hahaha)

This girl has always been the one with school spirit.  The one to go to all the sports games and cheer on her friends, go to all the High School dances and help decorate before and clean up after.  She loves planning events and getting everything together for them.  So of course this girl was dreaming of Prom since she was probably in Junior High!

And I don't think last night disappointed!

She had not ONE date to prom... but TWO!

You go girl... :)

With everything going on lately in her life she decided to go with her best friend.  Who could blame her, right?  And since her BFF's boyfriend was gone, they decided to be each others date.  Great idea, I LOVED IT!

Well, that was until about 4 days before Prom...

Then this "friend of a friend" asked her!  (In the cutest way I might add) He video taped a message for her because he doesn't go to her school and wasn't able to see her.  He wrote on a volleyball a message that was WAY to great to pass up!  So of course she said YES... and then asked her BFF on a scale of 1 to 10 how mad would she be if she had another date to Prom?  Good news, she was totally ok with it!  :)

So do you think these two have the same sense of humor?  Awkwardly taking photos in front of everyone when you don't really know each other isn't easy, but these two pulled it off. Glad he was able to fit right in with this group of crazies! :P

I'm not sure if I showed you an art journal page I did a few weeks ago.  I was thinking of Rebecca while I was painting it:

There's a blessing in the storm.  I kept praying that for her the last few weeks.  I just want this time in her life to not only teach her things and help her to grow up, but also for there to be a blessing IN it.

I'm not going to go into detail, but I know last night could have been very difficult for her.  But instead, it was such a great night full of FUN with great friends!

These girls have been friends for years!

The two at the top... they've been friends since 4th grade!  She doesn't even go to the same school anymore but he surprised her and we were all SO happy to see her again!

And then this young man... who she didn't know very well but he came in at the right time, was such a complete gentleman and treated her like she was the only girl in the room. What a blessing for sure.

But I have to say her girlfriends are really important too!   Girls need GREAT girls in their lives.  Had a great conversation with one of my friends last night after we dropped off our girls here. We talked about how we want our girls to know that it's important to cultivate great friendships with girls who love the Lord.  I know they have some GREAT friends like that and I am very thankful for those girls!

In times of stress and difficulties we all need friends that can direct us back to the One who truly loves and cares for us.

I think of the verse in Isaiah 40:31:

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.  They shall mount up with wings like eagles.  They shall run and not be weary.  They shall walk and not faint."

We ALL experience those kinds of times in our lives.  When we are in a difficult situation, when we are upset or "weary" and don't know what to do.  I pray that each one of you reading this will search for those kinds of people in your life, that will lift you up and be there for you.  The verse says to WAIT on the Lord.  Pray and wait and look for the right people to be in your life. I pray that my girls will BE those people who are there for others, even in the uncomfortable situations.  To show kindness, to include everyone, to show compassion and to point others to Jesus.  And I pray that YOU are learning to be that person to others as well.

These two... They are growing up way too fast.  But I love who they are and I pray they will always value each others friendship and be there, no matter what.

Have a BLESSED Sunday!

Hugs,

Laura
