I've been waking up in the middle of the night a lot lately, or waking up REALLY early when I don't "need" to. It's a bit annoying right?
So I've decided there may be a bigger reason for this and I'm going to just take that time to pray for people and the things going on in this world until I fall back asleep... or get out of bed. hahaha
This morning I woke up at 6am. Maybe that's not early for some of you... but for me on a day with no school AND it's a holiday, I was hoping for 8ish?? But the Lord started speaking to my heart and I know it was for someone else to hear as well. I don't know who exactly, but that's why I'm here at 7am writing on my blog that I've neglected since September!
So the gist of my conversation with the Lord this morning was this...
Why are you so hard on yourself?
"Did I die on the cross for perfect people? or did I die on the cross to take away your sins?"
I think you know the answer. He HAS paid the price and taken our sins AWAY! He has not only taken our sins away, he has FORGOTTEN THEM. As far as the east is from the west he has removed them. That means the sins we have already done and the sins we will do (hint.. because we will never be perfect until His return)
So WHY do we harbor the negative things in our lives? Why are we beating ourselves up about things? We do we stress that we aren't GOOD ENOUGH? We "should be" better...
Why do we carry our OWN BURDENS?
Think about that a minute. WE are carrying around the weight of our sins and burdens when the Lord ALREADY TOOK THEM FROM US. He already paid the price for them.
So LET GO people...
Instead of worrying about what we've done or carrying a burden about something going on in our lives we should be SO THANKFUL that the Lord already took care of it for us! He's got it covered.
Today IS Thanksgiving here in America. And I am so thankful for this country I live in, the people in this country who have fought, and continue to fight, for our freedoms. The amazing blessings we have because we live in this country and for soooooo many more blessings I have in my life. Today we as a nation take time to think about those blessings and talk about them and spend time with some of those blessings. :)
But it's not JUST today that we need to do that.
The Lord has set us FREE from so much junk. And he wants us to SEE THAT. If we love the Lord and BELIEVE what His word tells us, then we need to to work on this part of the picture...
We need to put all those burdens, those mess ups, those "I'm such an idiot" feelings and lay them down at His feet and say I'm sorry. Sorry for messing up, but I'm also sorry for holding onto them. You've already taken care of them, you've already forgiven me for them and now it's time I let them go.
Now is time to be filled with:
and don't forget this one people...
Yes, He wants us to be JOYFUL. He wants us to feel peace, to know that he has such GREAT LOVE for us that he would DIE FOR US. That should be the easy part when we think about it!
Because... He's GOT THIS.
Whatever you're going through, whatever your burdens, whatever you feel bad about... Give it to Him completely and be THANKFUL that you have a Lord that you can go to! And then leave it with HIM. Yes that isn't easy. Two minutes after I pray sometimes I'm already thinking about that problem and worrying AGAIN. Do you do that? Goodness that is so stupid of us. The other day I was praying all day about something and then I'd just go back to thinking and worrying about it right afterwards. Ridiculous! It wasn't until in the evening that I had had enough of my foolishness. I went into a room by myself and just cried as I prayed and asked the Lord to forgive me for that and that I would be DONE with it. I didn't want to worry about it anymore and I truly asked the Lord to take this burden away and help me to LEAVE it with Him. No more thinking about it, stomach aches about it, stress about it... DONE.
And guess what? I had such a feeling of peace fill my heart. That "pit" in my stomach feeling was GONE. I think the Lord just said ok Laura, you finally REALLY, TRULY turned it over to me and now I will give you my peace! He looks to our HEART... are we being REAL, are we being honest and taking the time to truly give it to Him... or are we just saying a quick prayer to "give it to Him" kind a like a "fast food" prayer. (You know, like when we're in a hurry, we don't have time to cook a meal so we'll just go get something fast. We don't really think about it, not much goes into it and we just eat it and move on.) No, He deserves our whole time, our whole effort and our whole heart.
That night I found out what I was worrying about wasn't even anything to worry about. At all. Stupid me.
So let's do our best to stop this silliness.
Let's walk around with JOY and PEACE in our hearts, in our words and actions AND on our faces. Let's show the LOVE OF GOD to others.
Because it's pretty AWESOME. We serve a God who loves us SO much and wants us to feel how much love He loves us so we can go out there into a broken world and give them the solution to their problems as well.
He heals the broken hearted.
Thank you Jesus.
Have a BLESSED and JOYFUL THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!
